The Chase’s Bradley Walsh forced to halt quiz

THE CHASE’S Bradley Walsh was left frustrated on a celebrity edition of the ITV quiz show as journalist Mariella Frostrup kept forgetting the quiz rules during her head-to-head with Anne Hegerty.

Bradley Walsh welcomed four celebrities onto a special edition of The Chase last night as they joined forces to try and win a large sum of money for their respective charities. However, the ITV host was left exasperated when one contestant failed to follow the rules during her head-to-head with Chaser, Anne Hegerty despite numerous attempts by Bradley to remind her of the rules.

In the hot seat was Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh, former Rugby star Ugo Monye, journalist Mariella Frostrup and journalist John Sergeant.

Mariella was third up to face Anne after earning an impressive £7000 in the cash builder round.

Ranvir and Ugo had already secured £12,000 for the jackpot but Mariella decided to take a gamble by taking the higher offer of £78,000.

However, the journalist didnt make things easy for herself as she seemed to forget the game rules during a head-to-head with Anne.

Mariella got off to a great start by answering her first question correctly but she almost forgot to press the buzzer before her time ran out.

Bradley then asked: “What name follows George in the name of a singer-songwriter and goes before Pound in the name of a poet?”

The possible answers were Harrison, Michael and Ezra but Mariella completely forgot she needed to press the buzzer.

Instead, she shouted out “Ezra” and Bradley quickly reminded her to press the button.

The journalist insisted shed pressed it and the host lamented she had done it “in time”.

“I dont know which button you pressed, it was like a blur,” he quipped.

“Should I press it again?” Mariella asked and Bradley hit back: “Its too late now!”

Later, the same thing happened again as Bradley asked: “Which of these counties does NOT appear in the name of a property on a London Monopoly board?”

The options were Kent, Northumberland and Somerset but once again Mariella called out “Somerset” before a flustered Bradley told her to press her button.

“Next time I am going to wait for you to shout out the answer and then I am going to press the button!” Anne joked.

Luckily, Mariella only had one question remaining and answered it correctly to secure her spot in the final.

Earlier in the show, Ranvir took a brutal swipe at Bradley as he quizzed her on what it was like to meet Jeremy Paxman.

The GMB presenter compared Bradley to Jeremy but her cheeky comments stunned the host.

“Youre funnier, more handsome,” she began. “Bit shorter…”

Bradley was left open-mouthed by the jibe before remarking: “Good luck, youre going to need it because you called me short.”
