Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) has been secretly struggling in EastEnders due to the immense pressure shes been under. Shes not sure whether she wants to go to University, but shes scared of disappointing mum Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) by informing her of this, and thus shes been keeping her feelings all bottled up. As a result, things escalate in the coming episodes, as Bex attempts to take her own life.
With Sonia continuing to fuss about Uni, Bex is desperate for a distraction, and she finds one when she decides throw Louise (Tilly Keeper) a baby shower. However, Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) soon take over — much to Bexs dismay — but, as the shower gets underway, Lisa (Lucy Benjamin) notices how distant Bex is, and becomes concerned as a result. Before long, she attempts to get the young woman to open up — but to no avail.
Lisa quizzes Louise about Bex, but shes left unsatisfied with her daughters response, and thus seeks out Sonia. Meanwhile, Bex is struggling more than ever with the thought of leaving Walford and finds herself reminiscing about Shakil (Shaheen Jafargholi).
With Bexs final day in Walford on the horizon, Sonia resolves to arrange a surprise party for her daughter — much to Bexs dismay. During the celebrations, Bex feigns enjoyment, but Lisa knows that shes not okay and thus attempts to persuade her to open up to her mum about how shes really feeling. In spite of this, Bex brushes Lisa off, before making a speech. Afterwards, she sneaks off.
With the stress of everything that shes had to deal with over the past few months — not to mention the thought of leaving Walford weighing on her mind — Bex finds herself unable to cope, and —unbeknownst to those enjoying themselves at the party — shes planning to take her own life.
