Alex Dowis earned a standing ovation from Americas Got Talent judges with his incredible tribute to the first responders for the anniversary of 9/11.

As Americas Got Talent approaches the finals for season 14, light painter Alex made his bid for public votes in the most recent episode – with his chances of making it through significantly boosted following his latest performance.

Alex paid tribute to the first responders in a lighting performance which illuminated firefighters on a black backdrop, with sound effects and radio calls playing out over the top.

It made a significant impression on judges Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union, Howie Mandel and guest Queen Latifah, who were all on their feet by the conclusion.

Alex faces tough competition, however, for a place in the finals, going up against the Detroit Youth Choir, singer Luke Islam, and magician Dom Chambers.
