EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite has filmed her final scenes as Mel Owen in the wake of episodes which saw the characters damaged son Hunter (Charlie Winter) shot dead after he carried out a deadly armed siege at the Queen Vic.
Viewers have been wondering how Mel will make her exit in the wake of Hunters death, with theories that he would kill his own mum finally resolved when he opted not to shoot her when given the opportunity.
Mel now faces saying a final goodbye to her son and facing up to the consequences of everything that has happened – but soon her mind will turn to anger against the Mitchells as she becomes involved in Sharons (Letitia Dean) messy situation. But will Mel be the one to expose the affair with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) before she goes?
So thats it! The end of an era… for me at least. Melanie Healy/Beale/Owen has left the building… its been a pleasure , a privilege and a 21 year association with a family I will cherish forever and never forget….TIL next time my beautiful cast and crew… you all rock.

Viewers had been dreading an outcome of Mel being killed off, with some speculating that she might take her own life due to her grief over Hunter. But Tamzin appears to have subtly put those fears to rest by implying in her goodbye tweet that she would be open to returning again next time. Fingers crossed that this means Mel will live to see another comeback.
Taking to social media, she marked it as the end of an era but clarified to fans that Mel would still be on screen for another few weeks yet – and they are shaping up to be dramatic ones.
