Actor Chris Quinten has had a dramatic week after he announced his engagement – only for his new fiancee to end up in hospital with severe sunstroke.

The former Coronation Street star, 61, is set to marry 21-year-old stripper Robyn Delabarre, popping the question on the Greek island of Mykonos where they have also been celebrating her birthday.

However things went slightly awry after she needed medical treatment – later revealing on Facebook: Nice relaxing day with our hot tub and view after a horrible trip to A&E last night and me ended up on a drip that cost £500.

Never a dull moment, lucky he held my hand and cuddled up in the hospital bed with me, always looking after me.

Chris originally found fame in Coronation Street, being a major part of the soap during the 80s – but when was he in the show and who did he play?

Chris was first seen on the cobbles in 1979, playing Brian Tilsley, the son of Ivy and Bert Tilsley – and the father of current characters Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Sarah Louise Platt (Tina OBrien).

Brian, a car mechanic, was already in a relationship with Gail (Helen Worth) and they married soon after he arrived in the soap – with Brian going on to buy a share of a garage in Albert Street which he ran during his time on the show.

Things werent plain sailing for him and Gail though – she had an affair with Brians cousin Ian Latimer and later discovered she was pregnant with Sarah Louise (who turned out to be Brian)s, although they stayed together and attempted to put their troubles behind them.

When did Chris Quinten leave the soap?

He left Coronation Street in 1989 after revealing plans to move to the US to marry his then-fiancee, talk show host Leeza Gibbons – with producers subsequently deciding to kill the character off.

As a result Brian met a tragic end on 15 February of that year when, just as Gail ended things between them again, he was stabbed to death outside a nightclub by a gang of thugs after trying to protect a woman from them.
