Doctors find four bees living in a womans eye and drinking her tears

Doctors have found four bees living inside a womans eyelid and feeding on her tears.

The so-called sweat bees had taken up residence inside her tear ducts, and were thriving.

The woman, identified only as Ms He, 28, went to hospital in Taiwan complaining of a swollen eye, and doctors were surprised to find the insects were the cause.

Doctors at Fooyin University Hospital in Taiwan managed to extract all of them, saying it was a world first.

Head of ophthalmology Dr Hung Chi-ting told a press conference: I saw something that looked like insect legs, so I pulled them out under a microscope slowly, and one at a time without damaging their bodies.
