Fans of French and Saunders have praised the pair’s impression of Gogglebox stars Giles and Mary.
After a decade off-screens together, 300 years of French and Saunders on BBC One celebrated Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, including some exclusive new sketches.
But aside from the Kardashians (aka the Karcrashians), Wonder Woman and Thor, it was the double act’s impersonation of the posh Gogglebox pair that got fans talking on Christmas Day.
French and Saunders were on TV screens for 30 years before calling it a day in 2007.
In the one-off sketch show that saw the pair reunite, 60-year-old Dawn dressed up as Giles, complete with navy sweatshirt, patterned V-neck top and oversized specs.
Saunders, 59, transformed into Mary, wearing a velour top and patterned skirt, before jokingly dressing up in the same pattern as the chair she was sitting in.
Viewers hailed the pair’s impression as ‘genius’ and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
Actual Giles and Mary appeared on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man on Christmas Day but fans thought the pair were ‘on another planet’, calling the interview ‘bland’ and ‘boring’.
Dont get me wrong I love Mary and Giles on Gogglebox but that interview was a bit bland #chattyman
