Alan Partridge returns to our screens this Christmas in a celebration of his broadcasting career so far, showing how the character became so popular.

The hour-long show will look at 25 years of the comic creation, including behind-the-scenes footage, never-before-seen outtakes, rehearsals and archive footage.

It will feature many of the people who have worked behind the scenes to make the character a success, including Setev Coogan himself as well as The Thick Of It creator Armando Iannucci, writer Patrick Marber, and actors Rebecca Front, Doon Mackichan and David Schneider.

Will there be a new Alan Partridge series?

It was confirmed earlier this year that the Alan Partridge character would be returning in 2018 for a brand new BBC series.

Speaking on The One Show, Steve Coogan said ‘‘Alan will be back on the BBC early next year,’ he said. ‘There’ll be a lot of Alan on telly next year, if you can wait that long.’

Alan Partridge is expected to appear as the ‘voice of Brexit’ in his new show.

David Walliams and Sheridan Smith star in this oddball comedy about a girl called Zoe who befriends a dancing rat. Walliams plays Zoe's absentee father with Smith playing her wicked stepmother. Should be a good one to watch with all the family.

Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes star as Queen Victoria and Albert in a festive version of Daisy Goodwin's hit historical drama. A pregnant Victoria is in a low mood as she faces her first Christmas without Baroness Lehzen, however her husband is hell bent on having the best Christmas ever.

Meanwhile there's love in the air below stairs as Skerrett and Francatelli try to hide their romance. Expect to get the warm and fuzzies as the palace is transformed into a festive wonderland.

In Twice Upon A Time, the Doctor teams up with Bill Potts and the first Doctor as they try to survive in an Arctic snowscape. They encounter enchanted glass people, who steal their victims from frozen time, and a World War One Captain taken from the trenches to play his part in the story.

It will also see Jodie Whittaker's first appearance as The Doctor in what promises to be a hugely emotional swansong for star Peter Capaldi.

This comedy starring Brendan O'Caroll as a foul-mouthed Irish matriarch always cleans up in the ratings at this time of year, and 2017 should be no different.

It'll be far from a silent night for Agnes as Cathy's got a new internet date, Rory is undergoing plastic surgery and Grandad is convinced the house is haunted.

Kicking off on Christmas Day, it will be followed by the second half on 1 January, 2018.

Channel 4 are being lovely and giving us two servings of The Great British Bake Off this month, with The Great Christmas Bake Off and The Great Festive Bake Off.

Val Stones, Paul Jagger, Beca Lyne-Perkis and Selasi Gbormittah are among the contestants back in the Bake Off tent for one more shot at the GBBO trophy for Christmas. Who will rise to the challenge?

The creator of Call The Midwife, Heidi Thomas, is bringing Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel to the small screen.

Alcott’s story, published in 1868, follows four sisters – Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy – and their journey from childhood to adulthood. It was loosely based on the author and her own three sisters.

The BBC have teased that Thomas' adaptation will bring in a whole new generation of viewers – and recapture the hearts of the old one we reckon.
