Napoli midfielder Jorginho is undergoing a medical with Chelsea on Thursday ahead of his £57 million move to Stamford Bridge, according to reports.
Chelseas deal to sign the midfielder ahead of Manchester City will also pave the way for Maurizio Sarri to replace Antonio Conte as manager.
Jorginho was expected to join the Premier League champions this summer but is now heading to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea have submitted a higher offer which acts as a compensation payment for Sarri.
Sarri did have a £7m release clause in his contract with Napoli but Chelsea had refused to activate it this summer.
According to the Evening Standard, Jorginho is having a medical with Chelsea on Thursday and has agreed a five-year contract worth £102,000 a week.
I will miss Napoli very much after four years spent here, I remain forever bonded to this city, Jorginho told CalcioNapoli24.
When asked about Sarri, Jorginho replied: I will greet him for all of you.
Sarri is also close to completing his move to Chelsea with one of Napolis lawyers confirming that it could be concluded by the end of the week.
There was a meeting in Rome at the offices of De Laurentiis [Napolis president], without Sarri, Mattia Grassani said.
We exchanged views with the English club and the coachs lawyers.
De Laurentiis wants to leave nothing to chance for the time Sarri will be at Chelsea. These are dynamics we have been facing and should be concluded by the end of the week.
