Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admits he is ‘really frustrated’ by his enforced absence in the Europa League.

The Gabon superstar joined Arsenal in a club-record deal from Borussia Dortmund in January but is cup-tied in the Europa League.

Arsene Wenger’s Gunners beat AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg of their last-16 clash last week and can progress to the quarter-finals when Milan travel to the Emirates this Thursday.

Aubameyang will not be involved, however, and he has revealed his ‘frustration’ at not being able to help his team in Europe.

‘I am really frustrated because the rules are a bit… I don’t know how to say in English, but I am disappointed because I can’t help my team,’ he told talkSPORT.

‘That’s life. I have to deal with it.’

Aubameyang scored on his debut for the Gunners in the 5-1 thrashing over Everton last month, but then went three games without a goal.

The 28-year-old has netted in each of his last two appearances but says he is struggling because of the significant breaks between games.

‘When I was in Dortmund, I was playing every three days but now I play once a week or have a long time between games. It is not easy,’ he said.

Arsenal have been a club in turmoil since Aubameyang’s arrival – calls for Wenger to leave intensified as the club lost four straight games, including the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

The Gunners have somewhat recovered in recent weeks, however, and Aubameyang insists he is happy to play under Wenger.

‘Of course I am really happy because I am here because of him,’ the forward added. ‘He had the interest in me so I am happy to play for him.’
