the saga of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart almost didn’t happen as ennifer Lawrence has revealed she once auditioned for Twilight.
‘When you audition, when you’re a run-of-the-mill actor – we’re all auditioning for all sorts if things – you just get like five pages and they’re like “act monkey!”,’ she revealed before admitting that when she auditioned for Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight, which was at the time planned as a one-off indie film, she ‘didn’t really know what it was’.
Stewart went on to win the lead role of Bella Swan opposite Robert Pattison – and the pair had a very public romance and then split – and Lawrence admitted that she did go to the cinema to watch the movie after release and was impressed.
‘When it came out, I was like, “hot damn! Woah!”,’ she said, although she admitted she was never jealous of losing out on the role.
Speaking to famed radio host Howard Stern, Lawrence also revealed the one film role that left her ‘truly devastated’ to learn she didn’t win – the role of Alice in Tim Burton’s live-action adventure of Alice In Wonderland.
‘The one thing that really killed me, the only time I’ve ever been truly devastated by losing an audition was at Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland,’ she said.
‘That one devastated me,’ she recalled.
Australian actress Mia Wasikowska went on to win the role alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, and Lawrence has come to terms with the decision made by Burton: ‘She was perfect and amazing and I couldn’t have had a British accent.’
